I haven't written much about the services I offer, so sometimes clients that find me through one of the services I offer are surprised what other things I do. For example clients that met me through a workshop are surprised I also work with businesses or that I do House Cleansing. You can find all my current services on my website, but I do receive a lot of clients by word of mouth, which usually highlights one service above the others. So I've been writing about my other services, but today I'm writing about one that almost all clients use: my free intake.
Client Reasons why I offer a free intake
These are my three main reasons to offer a free intake to all my clients:
- Accessibility
- Preparation
- Expectations
Booking a session should be as accessible as possible in my opinion. I offer packages which means that a single session is often 8-12 hours of work for me. I count phone calls, e-mails, intake, preparation, the session itself and after care in those hours. My prices reflect the amount of work I do, so I totally understand wanting to speak to me before committing. A free intake means that my work becomes accessible to a lot more people, because new clients get to discuss things without having to commit any money up front.
I usually prepare the intake around 24-48 hours in advance. I check the energy field and use my gifts to listen if there is anything specific I need to raise during the intake. For clients, it's really nice to hear me speak about their problem or issue before they have to explain it to me. That means that they already have some proof of my gifts and feel comfortable discussing things with me. It really makes me happy when clients tell me: "I just finally feel understood". It's really nice when the intake proves that we are on the same wave length.
An intake also helps me discuss client expectations. I get to explain how I work, what I do and won't do, and we can discuss what type of results are likely to come from the session. Meaning a client has a good grasp on what they can expect before committing to a session package. It usually reassures clients that they are making the right choice and reduces anxiety around 'what I will say or do', meaning more healing work can be done in the session and advice from a Reading is more helpful.
Personal Reasons why I offer a free intake
These are my main personal reasons to offer a free intake to all my clients:
- Synergy
- Compatibility
- Urgency
I love my work, but I do personally love it the most when there is good synergy between me and a client. I dislike having to spend a lot of time proving myself. It's exhausting to be questioned, when I just want to do the work and help. I remember a Reading where every single sentence I had to clarify myself. And after every clarification the client would agree that indeed, I was right. Child had to be clarified into teenager etc. By having an intake, I can proof myself there and then and see if we have a good synergy with enough trust to work together.
Sometimes people want me to do things that I don't feel are right. This has to do with my own personal ethics and I've written about it before in the blog post: What clients aren't welcome in my practice and What questions I won't answer. If I notice this during the free intake, I can tell people to find somebody else, because we aren't compatible. Sometimes I do feel that what they want is right, but I'm not the best option. I do have a wider network of other practitioners that I can refer to.
I know some people hate that I do intakes, because they just want to book a session asap and have their problem solved or questions answered. By doing an intake, I can see if I can accommodate their urgency or not. Sometimes I can, sometimes I can't. I understand that it almost always feels urgent to a client, but I have to balance all my clients needs with my own and those of my family.
