Dear people,
From all the spiritual tools to work with, a mirror might not be something you would consider at first. Yet, a simple mirror can be crucial in healing if you let it. We all own a mirror, but some of us hardly use them, while for others it's normal to work with them daily. There are so many mirrors ranging from the one's in our bathroom or cars to natural mirrors like windows or water. So today I'm writing about Mirror Work, a way to use a mirror to do healing work.
How does a mirror help?
There are many ways in which looking in a mirror helps us out.
Some benefits:
- It's harder to lie to ourselves while we see our own face
- It's easier to work on self love/self value/self forgiveness if we see ourselves
- It's easier to reflect on things when we get direct feedback from ourselves
- When can tune into inner thoughts easier when looking into our own eyes
Of course when you start mirror work, it's usually a bit uncomfortable. It feels a bit weird to watch yourself. Depending on your levels of self love, self confidence and self value, responses tend to range from slightly weird to deeply uncomfortable. While I know it's hard to do things that make us uncomfortable, mirror work is worth it.
Mirror exercise: Self value
- Take around 15 minutes for this exercise
- Grab a mirror or use your bathroom mirror
- Make sure you have a comfortable seat
- Watch yourself in the mirror while going through the affirmations listed. Practice saying them 3-5 times each
- Be sure to reflect on how you respond to them and if you notice shifts
- If you notice responses like doubt, denial, self sabotage, sarcasm etc. you know more work is needed, either with the mirror or with different techniques
- Affirmation 1: I am worthwhile
- Affirmation 2: I know my value
- Affirmation 3: I value myself
- Affirmation 4: I am valuable
- Don't forget to drink a bit of water and do some grounding
